The Canadian System of Environmental-Economic Accounting describes Statistics Canada’s implementation to date of the United Nations System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA).
The SEEA - Central Framework was recognized as an international statistical standard by the United Nations Statistical Commission in 2012. In addition, Statistics Canada is developing ecosystem accounts in accordance with the emerging integrated statistical framework described in the SEEA - Experimental Ecosystem Accounting.
To reflect this new statistical standard and the emergent work performed, Statistics Canada has updated its 1997 documentation on environmental accounting, Econnections: Concepts, Sources and Methods of the Canadian System of Environmental and Resource Accounts.
This Methodological Guide references relevant sections of the SEEA, and is now directly linked to Statistics Canada’s data holdings on the topics.
